Ways to create winter spaces with little touches in our home
Dean of the European University of Lefke (EUL) Architecture Faculty Prof. Dr. Lerzan Aras explained the ways to create winter spaces with little touches in homes.
“The meaning of home is special for all of us. Our memories accumulate there, our home is where we relax after a tired day. Whether in a garden, on an apartment floor, small or large house, it is an area where we feel good and want to create our comfort. Especially considering that the isolation conditions of the pandemic period still continue to a certain extent in 2020, we can think about how we can make our house more comfortable and enjoyable in the coming winter days. .
“Light can be provided with natural lighting from the sun, as well as we can set up an order that gives more joy and keeps our energy high with different lighting types in the corners of our home. Especially in winter, a lampshade that we choose according to our taste on our coffee tables in our living space will change the whole light of the house. Or lighting from a place that we can put next to our sofas also gives a relaxing and energetic effect in winter evenings ”, adding that instead of overhead lighting, such lighting always increases the comfort of a home.
Correctly chosen light, texture and color always create magic in living spaces
Emphasizing the second important point, Aras said that choosing the right texture is also important and continued her explanation as follows; “There is a sofa that we all love in our house. Of course, it is not possible to change things in all seasons; but we can change the environment with small touches according to the season. The most comfortable textures of the winter period are thin velvet, fleece and wool and cotton blend blankets that we call Scottish blankets. Different thickness and colors increase the chance of choice. Blankets you can lay on your favorite sofa and lampshades you can put on coffee tables will immediately turn your living space into a winter house.
Referring to the third and most important factor being color, Aras said, “We cannot change the color of our walls in every season; however, there are other ways to add winter colors to our living space. You can choose warm tones such as burgundy, dark brown, dark green, ocher, purple, gray and mustard as winter colors. Although it is up to you which you want to use together, if you use the two colors a lot, the less use of the third color makes the space look more elegant. Color change can be done with pillows first. For example, a burgundy and beige heavy Scottish blanket and mustard-colored and burgundy pillows can be used; Solid color knee shawls in the same tones can be added next to it. With a few accessories of these colors that you can choose on your coffee table, your home enters another season at onceBurgundy cups, a beige vase and flowers inside, several candles in the same tones and different sizes, large wooden bowls make your home living space a warm atmosphere. These changes, which you can make with a single sofa and coffee table, can be easily removed at the end of the winter season and you can bring your home to the spring environment with other touches this time. “Correctly selected light, texture and color always create magic in living spaces.”
