Turkish Cypriot Poet and Novelist Demirağ’s Poems were handed down to the Young Generations
Turkish Cypriot Poet and Novelist Fikret Demirağ was commemorated with poem performances that took place at European University of Lefke, Lefke Gazi Highschool and Lefke AKM on the first day of 1st International Fikret Demirağ Poem Festival organized between the dates of 1-3 December 2017.
“Fikret Demirağ’s poetry room” themed exhibition which displayed personal belongings, works and awards of Demirağ took place on the second day of the festival at Lefke Municipality Bazaar.
Fikret Demirağ “Collective Poems I” poetry book published by EUL was handed out to the guests
On the occasion of the Poetry Festival, a cocktail was held at the EUL Lounge in honor of guest poets and participants. European University of Lefke Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen, Lefke Mayor Aziz Kaya, Cyprus Artist and Writers Union President Zeki Ali made speeches in the cocktail and presented plaques to institutions and guest poets who contributed to the event. Fikret Demirağ “Collective Poems I” poetry book published by EUL was handed out to the guests at the night. Moreover, Demirağ’s poems were read and the poetry book was handed out in Fikret Demirağ Poetry Room, which was opened on 2 December 2017. By this means Cypriot Poet and Novelist Demirağ’s poems were introduced to the young generations and they were eternized once again.
On the last day of Poetry Festival, Vuni Palace was visited first in Bademliköy, Demirag’s poems were read in accompaniment with music concerts at Poetry Hill and the festival ended after planting saplings.
