Traditional Cyprus Dish Served at Lefke
Traditional flavors introduced to students
Orientation days of European University of Lefke are still going on with the high level of participation of the students.
In the program organized for the students after the Lefke and the region visits, the students were served a traditional Cypriot taste called herse which is a dish of chicken and coarsely ground wheat. Students who tasted the herse prepared at the organization held at Lefke Turkish Sports Club said they liked the herse very much and were extremely pleased with the event organized for them.
The opinions of the people of the region and the parents about the activity;
Güzin Şaker: We come from Antakya. I am parent of a student. I have a daughter who is studying Architecture at EUL. This year my other daughter will enroll in EUL. We are very pleased with the education and interest of the university. I think Lefke is a complete student city. I recommend everyone. Offering herse was well thought out and organized. I would like to thank our university.
Ahmet Toros: It was a good experience to meet with students who preferred the university with such an activity for the people of the region and to host them with culture-related values. In this context, I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen and everyone who participated in the organization. I think that the increase of such activities forms the basis of student-citizen interactions.
Dr. Salih Gökeren: It was a good activity for new arriving students to recognize the region and the people of the region. We are very pleased that the students appreciated the herse. It is very important for us that the students left Lefke happily and peacefully. In this regard, we are trying to fulfill our task as required.
The opinions of the students about the activity;
Mehmet Erdi Aktaş: I’m from Mardin. I will study in the Department of Psychology. I came to the university with the undergraduate transfer program. I have made many friends by attending Orientation trips. I had the opportunity to show my musical talents to my friends at the trips. I am very happy that there are many active clubs of the university. Today we had an opportunity to taste the herse which is unique to Cyprus. It was so delicious. It was my fist timr and liked it.
Kamila Bissenova: I come from Kyrgyzstan. Thanks to the welcoming team, I have completed a lot of work here easily. Having friends who speak Russian in the team also was an advantage to us. I would like to thank my university for organizing this event for us.
Seçil Cengiz: I come from Hatay. I was very pleased with the interest of the university. I found Lefke peaceful and calm. We got along very well with the welcoming team. I like herse which was offered to use, it was similar to the tastes of our own.
Oğuzhan Kantarcı: I come to Afyon to study in the Department of Civil Engineering. Thanks to the Welcoming Team and Orientation Days we were able to recognize the region and new friends. Lefke is a quiet place, the people are very kind. I like the campus and its neighborhood very much.
Ayşe Gülcan: I come from Antalya to study in Turkish Language and Literature Department. The welcoming team was very helpful to us. We did not have any trouble. I liked the area very much. Everywhere is natural and beautiful. I am very happy that I will study in a peaceful environment for 4 years. It was the first time that I’ve eaten herse and I found it delicious.
Beste Şaker: I made my registration for the Department of Counseling and Psychological Counseling. My sister started receiving education at EUL a year ago. When I came to my sister, I liked EUL very much thus I preferred EUL. Our trips are very enjoyable. We gained a lot of information about the area with the help of the guide. I would like say that I really appreciated the well-thought offering of herse.
Erbol Jorobekov: We came from the airport to the university very comfortably. We were welcomed here and we did not suffer the difficulties of being a stranger. Lefke’s air is so beautiful. The people of the area and the faculty of the university are very kind and helpful. Everyone is trying to help us. We have had a beautiful day today. We visited historical and cultural places. The sea is so beautiful, it gives peace. The offering were very nice, thank you.
Zeynep Kıyıpınar: I come from Yozgat. I will study in the Law Department. Thanks to the welcoming team, I came to the university comfortably and settled in. Our university is beautiful. Lefke is a sweet and cozy place. I think it is a place where a student can live. Herse was a different taste to our neighborhood, but I like it. I am generally pleased with the interest of the university.
Sevda Odacı: I will study at the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department. The process of settling down and registration was smooth. First of all, I would like to thank everyone who helped us in this process. Lefke is a peaceful and quiet place. I have enjoyed the greenery and nature of the campus. I really got peace of mind on the campus. I enjoyed the taste of the herse, which was offered to us today.
Necati Yenigün: In my opinion the activities organized by our university for new students were very good. I liked the welcoming party very much. The people of the region are very kind and they are trying to help us immediately. It’s the first time that I’ve ever eaten herse. We don’t have it in our region. I would like to thank my university for offering us a different flavor.
