The Health Management Club students of European University of Lefke (EUL) raised awareness about kidney health in the regions of Gemikonağı and Lefke
The Health Management Club, affiliated with the Social and Cultural Activities Centre of Lefke European University (EUL), organized a ‘World Kidney Day Awareness Event’ aimed at increasing awareness about kidney diseases.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Macide Özdal, lecturer stating that “Chronic Kidney Disease is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, with its prevalence increasing at a significant rate. The theme of World Kidney Day 2024, ‘Kidney Health for Everyone Everywhere,’ has been determined to focus on the increasing burden of chronic kidney disease in different population groups and to emphasize the need to overcome inequalities in chronic kidney disease rates and unequal access to kidney care,” mentioned that within this scope, a “World Kidney Day Awareness Event” was organized to raise awareness about kidney diseases.
As part of the event, doctors and nurses from the Nephrology, Haemodialysis, and Transplantation Service of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, along with Health Management club students, gathered in the regions of Gemikonağı and Lefke. While nurses measured the blood pressure of the public, doctors drew attention to factors that pose risks for kidney diseases. Health Management club students also distributed brochures aimed at promoting kidney health and raising awareness in the community
