The first of the “Cultural Exchanges” event series organized by the EUL Faculty of Communication Sciences was held
In the first of the online seminar series organized by the European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Communication Sciences in cooperation with Nexchange; Nexchange Manager and Woodbury University Media Studies program lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. B. Senem Çevik’s speech titled “Cultural Shifts: Bridging cultural gaps one step at a time”.
In the online seminar moderated by EUL Faculty of Communication Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Elif Asude Tunca, Assoc. Prof. Dr. B. Senem Çevik explained how cultural exchange can improve relations between communities and help bridge cultural gaps, with a focus on intercultural communication. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çevik also gave information about the functioning and scope of Nexchange in her speech.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çevik drew attention to the importance of cultural exchanges and mentioned that these exchanges can also lead to misunderstandings and discrimination in her speech. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çevik emphasized that “we should build bridges that will bring people together by increasing cultural awareness” and that “in this context, cuisine, music and sports are the most important tools that will ensure cultural fusion and develop intercultural understanding”.
EUL Faculty of Communication Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Elif Asude Tunca gave information about the “Cultural Exchange” online seminar series and stated that as the Faculty of Communication Sciences, they would organize online seminars with Nexchange and its Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. B. Senem Çevik, where they will discuss new topics within the scope of culture and cultural exchange – cooperation.
