“Spaghetti Bridge Design” Contest was held on EUL Construction Day
“Construction Day” event was organized by European University of Lefke (EUL) Engineering Faculty Department of Civil Engineering. The Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering, Assist. Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Bay, who made opening speeches during the event, gave information about the events and living developments in EUL Civil Engineering Department during the last academic year. Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Ekinci, member of the Department of Civil Engineering also forwarded information about the “Spaghetti Bridge Design” contest organized under the Construction Day event.
KTMMOB, General Secretary of the Chamber of Civil Engineers, Bora Kutruza, presented his post-graduate career plans for the students of the Department of Civil Engineering and about the Gaoyang Cruise Terminal project, which he worked for in China’s Shanghai city as well.
The bridging project with the lightest design and highest load capacity, received the first prize
On the construction day, “Spaghetti Bridge Design” contest and poster presentations were held by EUL students. In the bridge design contest, students who are preparing to compete in groups of 5 have built bridges using only spaghetti and hot silicone. Bridges won the bridge contest, which weighed 53 times the weight of its weight, with a design that embraces the famous Warren Scissors system, which is loaded with weight and tested for durability, with the lightest design and at the same time the highest load bearing bridge. Najam Ahmed, Ammar Jani, Mohammed Nouman, Raja Adnan Sharif and Shahzaib Saleem, were awarded first prize by Vice Dean of Engineering Faculty, Assist. Prof. Dr.Ertuğ Aydin.
Through presentations in the event, students have learned how to shape their career after graduation and had the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they learned during their training.
The highly participated event ended with the presentation of the Engineering Faculty Graduation Projects.
