Retired Diplomat and Former Chief Negotiator Osman Ertuğ Delivered a Seminar on the Art of Diplomacy at EUL
Osman Ertuğ, Who Held Various Diplomatic Positions in the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Served as Chief Negotiator During the Term of the 3rd President Derviş Eroğlu, was a Guest of the European University of Lefke’s International Relations Department.
In the seminar, he explained how to pursue a career in diplomacy and the challenges involved.
Under the moderation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhittin Tolga Özsağlam, Head of the International Relations Department at EUL, Osman Ertuğ delivered a presentation on “The Art of Diplomacy.” Ertuğ touched upon the history and nuances of diplomacy, and in the continuation of his speech, he explained how to pursue a career in diplomacy and the challenges involved.
While summarizing the historical context of the Cyprus issue, Osman Ertuğ stated that the failure to reach a diplomatic solution to the Cyprus issue at the negotiation table stemmed from the negative attitudes of the Greek Cypriot leadership during the Annan Plan and the Crans-Montana summit. Ertuğ then concluded the seminar by answering questions from students and academics.
