Interaction of Dentist and Technician affects the Success of Prosthesis 

European University of Lefke (EUL) Vocational School of Health Services organized a conference themed “Recent Dental Technologies”. Academician of Başkent University Department of Prosthetic Dentistry Prof. Dr. Selim Erkut attended the conference as a speaker and shared information about the latest developments in dentistry and the methods of harmonious working between Dentist and Dental Prosthesis Technician with the students.

Describing the concept of Prosthetic Dentistry as renewing the missing or lost tooth with new ones, Erkut pointed out the treatment types as fixed prosthodontics, partial denture and complete denture.

In his speech, Erkut stated that, “Prosthodontic treatment in dentistry is a discipline that needs to optimally balance function, biological integrity and aesthetics. In prosthesis, which is the final product in prosthetic dentistry, high level of communication between the dentist and technician is essential for the success of the prosthesis”. Erkut furthermore emphasized the importance of recognition and evaluation of the reflections of the developing technology by the dentist and technician.

Erkut said that, harmonious working methods between Dental Prosthetics Techniciancy which offers education within the body of Vocational School of Health Services and Faculty of Dentistry will shed a light to the studies conducted in the field scientifically. Erkut also elaborated on the topics in his presentation and gave detailed information on the dentist-technician dialogue recommendations and current technology in today’s dentistry.

Erkut pointed out that computer supported technologies found in the dental health centers, meet the needs of prosthesis of the patients easily. Erkut finally stated that there are faster, easier and more accurate solutions to dental prosthesis requests of patients using Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing technologies and that prosthesis is prepared with the finest detail with these methods.
