“It is essential for us to maintain our existence in the future by protecting our national interests and national interests together with the Republic of Turkey in this geography”

President Ersin Tatar gave a speech at the conference titled “A Success Story – from business and media life to the Presidency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” organized by the European University of Lefke and explained the process leading up to his election as the President.
In his speech, President Tatar referred to the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people; “If we, as the Turkish Cypriot people, are able to maintain our existence in these lands and look to the future with hope, we achieve this due to the support of the Republic of Turkey,” he said.

Reminding that although the Turkish Cypriot people said yes to the Annan Plan, the promises were not kept and the Greek Cypriot side was made a member of the EU unilaterally, President Tatar referred to the speech of Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis to the US Congress and said:
“We have to believe and trust our own politics. In this geography, it is essential for us to continue our existence in the future by protecting our national interests and national interests together with the Republic of Turkey. The attitudes of the Greek Cypriot side that they will never give up are in the form of an understanding that will lead to the withdrawal of the Turkish soldiers from the island and the transition of Cyprus to the sovereignty and authority of the Greek-Greek duo over time.

“Our way is the right way. Our way is to continue to explain this policy that has been shaped in this geography for centuries together with the Republic of Turkey.” Expressing the importance of the guarantorship of the Republic of Turkey as a deterrent force, President Tatar stated that the Greek-Greek duo wanted to imprison Turkey in Anatolia within their dreams of creating a Greater Greece, and that the Turkish Cypriots were the people who disrupted this game.

Noting that he constantly calls for Turkish Cypriots living abroad to return to their countries, President Tatar said; “The structure, security and prosperity here are absent in most countries of the world. We have a beautiful man whose history and culture can enable us to look to the future with hope.”
Expressing that Turkish Cypriots are now all over the world and that we are proud of their achievements in art, sports and many other fields, President Tatar said that his mind was always in Cyprus and he longed for Cyprus during his time in England and Turkey.

Explaining that the Turkish Cypriots were born again and established a state with the 20 July Peace Operation, President Tatar noted that after his election as President, two separate sovereign state policies, living side by side with the full support of the Republic of Turkey, were announced to the world.

Underlining the importance of work and discipline in his message to the youth, President Tatar mentioned the benefits of establishing friendships and good relations by engaging in social activities in a region like Lefke, which is developed with its nature and culture.
