Photograph Competition Concluded
Photography competition organized for the first time by the European University of Lefke (EUL) with the theme of “Lefke from My Point of View” has been concluded.
49 participants took part in the award-winning photography competition with 388 works in order to document the values of Lefke which has been hosting the cultural heritage of various civilizations for thousands of years with its historical riches and to contribute to the photography art of our country. The competition was organized in two main categories as ‘Students’ and ’Non-Students‘ and in two sections as ‘Color’ and ‘Black and White’.
The Selection Committee (Jury) Members included many respected artists, painters and academicians such as Feridun Işıman (Paiter), Mehmet Gökyiğit (Photograph Artist), Salih Sevindik (Photograph Artist), Atila Karaderi (Photograph Artist, Teacher), Ediz Tuncel (Photograph Artist, Academician), Faruk Kalkan (Dean of EUL Faculty of Communication Sciences) , Birsel Matara (Academician of EUL Faculty of Communication Sciences).
Winners According to Fields and Categories
In the colored category of “Non-Students” main filed, Saydam Soy won the first place with his work titled “Single Rock”, Yıltan Taşçı the second place with his work titled “My Green Lefke” and Hasan Karlıdağ the third place with his work titled “Green Lefke”. 25 works in this category were deemed worthy of exhibition.
In the black and white category of “Non-Students” main filed, Yıltan Taşçı won the first place with his work titled “Backgammon Pleasure in Lefke”, Cem Cengiz the second place with his work titled “Quite Harbor ” and Ayla Atay the third place with her work titled “Mansions of Lefke”. 17 works in this category were deemed worthy of exhibition.
In the colored category of “Students” main field, Toosef Rehman won the first place with his work titled “Ancient Kingdom”, Mikail Kolçelik the second place with his work titled “Pir Pasha Mosque and Monument Sycamore Tree” and Şükran Beyza Düşer the third place with her work titled “Ancient Structures”. 27 works in this category were deemed worthy of exhibition.
In the black and white category of “Students” main filed, Yaşar Demirci won the first place with his work titled “Sunset in Lefke”, Toosef Rehman the second place with his work titled “Sinless” and Kofi Arku Bansah the third place with his work titled “Boy Camera Fascination”. 31 works in this category were deemed worthy of exhibition.
In addition, Yıltan Taşçı won the special jury prize for his work titled “Picturesque” in the competition.
With the opening of EUL’s 2019-2020 Academic Year, a ceremony will be held on a scheduled date and the awards will be presented to the contestants who have received degrees. In addition, the award-winning works and works that are worth to be exhibited will be presented to the art lovers with the exhibition to be opened.
