One Of The Gifts Of Atatürk “Turkish Language Day” Celebrated
Dean of the European University of Lefke (EUL) Education Faculty and Turkish Language and Literature expert Prof.Dr. Oğuz Karakartal made a statement due to the Turkish Language Festival.
Military-writer Ömer Seyfettin initiated the simplification of the Turkish language in 1911.
Karakartal stated in his statement that the opening day of the Turkish Language Congress, which was held in 1932 with the participation of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, was to be celebrated as “Language Festival” every year. Karakartal said, “Our mother tongue, Turkish, was removed from unnecessary Arabic and Persian words and rules, thanks to Atatürk. The activation of the Turkish Language and Turkish Historical Institutions after the alphabet revolution in 1928 brings with it a return to national, main sources. In 1911, another soldier-writer Ömer Seyfettin initiated the simplification of the Turkish language. Finally, Karakartal reminded that one of the departments of EUL Faculty of Education, which has a rich view in TRNC with its educational quality and staff, is the Department of Turkish Language Teaching, and stated that he believes that they are raising ideal Turkish teacher candidates around Atatürk’s goals and the ideal of protecting the Turkish language.
