“New Educational Tendencies” discussed in EUL
The embassy of Turkey to the TRNC Education and School counsellor Oğuzhan Cebeci, Research Assistant of Institute of Graduate StudiesNurdan Özreçberoğlu, Edalı Tüzüner and Cemaliye Çağla Sergil attended “New Educational Tendencies” panel which was organized by the department of Pre-school Teaching in Faculty of Education (Dr. Fazıl Küçük) EUL as speakers.
Özreçberoğlu: Mathematical Education aims to educate individuals as mathematical problem solvers, communicators and the ones who are happy to do these.
In her presentation themed “Thinking Skills in Mathematics”, Özreçberoğlu pointed out the importance of creative, critical and analytical thinking skills and said “It is aimed to educate individuals as mathematical problem solvers, communicators and the ones who are happy to do these, not only ones who know mathematics”. She also pointed out that, improving thinking skills is important in order to solve the problems, improve mental independence, shape the future, create a different view point on business and responsibilities and independent decision-making, to be objective against social pressures.
Cebeci: The ones, who depart for personal transformation, should integrate their mind and heart in every step.
Cebeci, emphasized paradigm is a common set of work rule for people also, it is useful on verge and telling how one should act under the frame work of his “Paradigm Shift” presentation. Cebeci said “Paradigm which means admitted set of rules helps us to understand the world and to do prospective approximations, and foresights.” He also stated that initiative, achievement motive, adaptation, impress people, leadership, political conscious, empathy, self-reliance and self-improvement are necessary for the personal transformation. Cebeci said that “the ones, who depart for personal transformation, should integrate their mind and heart in every step” and stressed that a person must have features such as self-audit, trustworthiness and they should have a conscience, conformance and innovator in their social relations.
Tüzüner: Educational Organizations should be able to follow rapidly changing innovations.
In his presentation themed “Innovation Management Skills and Organizational Learning in Schools Mechanisms of Elementary School Principals”, Tüzüner underlined the importance of knowledge and said that the increase in the need for knowledge lay a burden on educational organizations to produce and distribute knowledge and he also pointed out that in order to fit into the globalized world and to develop, skilled and high qualified individuals should be trained. Tüzüner said that in order educational organizations to be able to rapidly changing innovations they need organisational learning mechanism and explained the reason of this as trainable organisations should have a structure which can work in a creative corporation and plan the future.
Sergil: Everything around us -material and nonmaterial, are involved in the scope of change.
In her presentation themed “Change”,Sergil underlined that change and change adaptation have the features of an universal fact, it is the much-discussed subject then everything around us and pointed out everything around us -material and nonmaterial, are involved in the scope of change. She continued as “Everything is changing rapidly every morning when I wake up, such as human acts to technological innovations or nature events to social life rules for this reason, we are faced to come up against a specific purpose, willpower to make this purpose happen and conditions that prevent the achievement of purpose, cases, thoughts and the systems.” She emphasized that it is impossible to run away from the truths and said that; “Change is an irreplaceable phenomenon for our rapidly developing country. If there is no change in the education of a country, there is no development as well. But, every change may not be easily accepted by those who are affected by change. Sometimes there might be resistance to the change.”
