President of Lefke Tourism Association, Hasan Karlıtaş, made a statement to the European University of Lefke (EUL) Soli News Agency about the wall paintings that have been completed in Lefke.
Karlıtaş said, “Lefke, located in the northwest of Cyprus Island, has always been preferred by many civilizations due to its clean air, peaceful environment, greenery, abundant water resources and copper mine deposits around it. He said that there are many historical, cultural and natural beauties worth visiting in Lefke District.
MUFLON – SOLI AND LEFKE SELECTED AS MAIN THEME
Karlıtaş explained the meanings of murals made on three walls in Lefke as follows;
- LEFKE ARTICLE: The study, which includes the production of Lefke, its agricultural products, orange, green, Cittaslow membership, the oldest settlement in the district, Petra Tou Limnid, the copper mine, the city’s Ottoman artifacts, aqueducts and mansions, was written with LEFKE writings.
- SOLİ: The ancient city of Soli, one of the ancient city kingdoms on the island of Cyprus, which is very important for the history of the region, its location, theater, the philosopher Solon, who was considered to be born in Cyprus, identified with the establishment of the city and lived in the 6th century BC, was designed.
- MOUFLON: Keeping the nature theme ahead, the Cyprus endemic mouflon (Ovis Gmelini Opion) drawing was designed as a very effective stance.
Karlıtaş stated that mural works on three walls in Lefke created a difference and excitement for the first time in the district of Lefke and attracted attention from the local community and EUL students.
