Kidney Health Awareness Seminar Was Held at EUL
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Düriye Deren Oygar and Dr. Ahmet Behlül was the guest of EUL
A seminar was organized by the European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Health Sciences and Vocational School of Health Services on the occasion of “World Kidney Day”
“Chronic Kidney Disease is an important public health problem in the world and in our country. However, low awareness of the disease prevents early diagnosis. Due to individuals’ lack of awareness, end-stage renal failure develops and negatively affects the individual’s quality of life. Therefore, “World Kidney Day” is celebrated every year on the second Thursday of March in order to draw attention to kidney health in the society and raise awareness, and various events are organized,” said Associate Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences. Dr. Macide Özdal stated that this year, a seminar titled “2024 World Kidney Day: Equal Access to Optimal Drug Applications and Health Care for Kidney Health” was organized by EUL Faculty of Health Sciences and Vocational School of Health Services.
On the occasion of World Kidney Day 2024, a seminar was held at LAÜ Cinema Hall, featuring the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Düriye Deren Oygar, an Internal Medicine and Nephrology specialist, and Dr. Ahmet Behlül, a doctor specializing in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital’s Nephrology, Hemodialysis, and Transplantation Service.
Undersecretary Oygar provided insights into the significance of kidney diseases for society, discussed risk factors, treatment methods, and emphasized the importance of preventive health services such as screening programs.
Dr. Ahmet Behlül, on the other hand, shared information about screening programs organized by the Ministry of Health for the TRNC community. He also discussed treatment methods and underscored the importance of organ donation and kidney transplantation.
