It was aimed to provide Red Crescent volunteers in the conference held at EUL
European University of Lefke (EUL) Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Education Department of Pre-School Teaching organized a conference themed “Do me a Favor and Smile”. General Secretary of Northern Cyprus Turkish Red Crescent Can Çağrı Çelik attended the conference as a speaker. Çelik explained the activities of the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent to the students during the training seminars organized in universities and pointed out their aim as offering training and providing Red Crescent Volunteers
Çelik: The Association is an observer member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Federation as the TRNC’s National Red Crescent.
Çelik pointed out that Association of the TRNC’s National Red Crescent is registered as an association established with a eleemosynary purpose with the 12.11.1974 dated and 5251 numbered order of The Council of Ministers of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Çelik also pointed out that the association is a charity association that works with the “humanity, non-discrimination, impartiality, independence, charity, unity and universality” principles of 1949 Geneva Conventions and International Red Crescent / Red Cross Movement. Çelik said that “The Association is an observer member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Federation as the TRNC’s National Red Crescent” and added that the principal membership process is still proceeding.
Çelik: Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent Association supports voluntary cooperation and solidarity among individuals
Çelik said that “The Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent Association, which takes its power from the feelings of conscience, compassion and humanity of the people of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, is a charitable organization that strengthens and promotes peace, respect and tolerance by supporting voluntary cooperation and solidarity among individuals, in order to alleviate the suffering of humanity and to preserve the dignity of the people everywhere”. Çelik further stated the vision of the association as being a charitable organization in which the socially responsible individuals who seek to find a solution by using the will and capacity of the society harmonize and being a charitable organization that always takes the concepts of “care” as a philosophy as and transfers the basic values that this philosophy is based on to the other generations.
Çelik finally pointed out that after the recent flood disaster, the Red Crescent was found at the crisis desk of the prime ministry, and the citizens affected by the floods were provided with hygiene and food packages and added that food supply was held to the crews involved in the search for lost 4 young people.
