Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Psychology organised workshops under the title of “Professional and Academic Development Workshops – II”
In the scope of “Professional and Academic Development Workshops – II”, seven different workshops were organised by the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, European University of Lefke in order to contribute to the professional and academic development of psychology students and interested students from other departments. In these workshops, various topics that could not be covered in sufficient detail in standard curriculum courses were discussed and it was aimed to provide students with more in-depth knowledge and experience on these issues.
On the first day of the event, firstly, in the workshop titled “Using APA Format Correctly” conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sultan Şehitoğlu Okumuşoğlu, the APA format used in scientific article writing was applied. Then, lecturer Beliz Köroğlu discussed psychological support for cancer patients in the workshop titled “Psycho-oncology”. Finally, Asst. Prof. Dr. Cemaliye Direktör conducted a workshop titled “Clinical Interviewing and Evaluation with Children” in which psychologist candidates who want to work with children were provided with information and experience on how to conduct clinical interviews with children.
On the second day of the event, Asst. Prof. Dr. Umut Şah provided information and experience on how to conduct a qualitative research in the workshop titled “Conducting Qualitative Research”. Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Zihniye Okray conducted a workshop on “Psychological First Aid”. In the workshop titled “Current Issues in Emerging and Young Adulthood” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Doğa Eroğlu Şah, information and facts that will enable students to better understand the individuals in the developmental period in question were transferred in an interactive way. Finally, lecturer, Dilem Öke, conducted a workshop titled “Working with Children” and provided information and experience to psychologist candidates who want to work with children about important issues and skills specific to this field.
