EUL students participated in a workshop on clay with Ceramic Artist Cankat
European University of Lefke (EUL) Department of Psychology organised a panel and workshop on ‘Happy Birthday Freud’.
Academicians and students of the Department of Psychology celebrated the 168th birthday of Sigmund Freud, who was born on May 6, 1856, with ‘Art and Psychoanalysis’ activities.
Following the discussion on the relationship between psychoanalysis and art by Prof. Dr. Zihniye Okay, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, a psychoanalytic interpretation of the fairy tale Rapunzel was made with the students. Students re-evaluated the psychoanalytic framework they had learned in the seminar and department courses to interpret this fairy tale.
After the panel and seminar, the students gathered in the open air and participated in the clay workshop organised by Ceramic Artist Leman Cankat. Students had the opportunity to experience the relationship between artistic activities and creativity and our psychological processes in clay works.
