EUL Pharmacy students gathered with Dr. Pharmacist Ayşe Gökyiğit
Dr. Pharmacist Ayşe Gökyiğit, former Director of the Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy Department, attended the conference on “Pharmacovigilance and its place in the pharmaceutical sector” organized by the European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Pharmacy attended as an invited speaker.
Dr. Pharmacist Gökyiğit’s seminar was held at the Faculty of Pharmacy Practice Pharmacy with the participation of Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Şermin Tetik, faculty members and students.
Prof. Dr. Pharm. Gökyiğit started the speech with the history of the necessity of pharmacovigilance, which started with the undesirable effects of drugs in the process, and continued with the aims of the evaluation of drug effects and its development in the pharmacy sector.Pharmacovigilance is a field that covers how patient follow-up and reporting will be implemented with legal regulations in order to prevent and control serious adverse effects caused by drugs. Therefore, Dr. Pharm. Gökyiğit concluded this speech by addressing the future of pharmacovigilance, explaining to the participants how to follow international practices while continuing their profession, the difficulties that may be encountered and the approaches that include priorities due to the sensitivity of the subject.
The seminar on “Pharmacovigilance and its place in the Pharmaceutical Industry” attracted great interest from the students. The conference ended with Prof. Dr. Şermin Tetik, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, presenting a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Pharm. Ayşe Gökyiğit.
