EUL Faculty of Communication Sciences organized “Our Photographs” Exhibition
The students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the European University of Lefke organized the “Our Photographs” exhibition, which consists of the photographs they took within the scope of Photography classes. The exhibition, which was opened in the faculty foyer and consisted of a total of 76 photographs, attracted a lot of attention.
The exhibition is organized by head of Visual Communication Design Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Elif Atamaz and consists of a selection of photographs taken by the students as part of the Photography class, the opening of the exhibition was made by dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences Prof. Dr. Elif Asude Tunca.
Tunca “Persistence and transmittance are the most important features of photography”
Starting her speech by congratulating the students, Prof. Dr. Elif Asude Tunca emphasized the importance of photography and said, “Photography is so important that it is not only stopping the moment and moving forward, but also witnessing an era. Persistence and transmittance are the most important features of photography. Continuing her words as “taking photos increases your sensitivity to your environment, it enables you to look at your environment from a different perspective”. Prof. Dr. Tunca said, “I hope you will take the knowledge and photography practices you have acquired within the scope of your course forward, make them a part of your life, and always continue this hobby.”
Atamaz “Photography is a communication tool”
European University of Lefke Faculty of Communication Sciences Faculty Member and Photography lecturer Asst. Prof. Dr. Elif Atamaz, on the other hand, stated in her speech that photography has become a hobby that everyone can easily acquire thanks to mobile phones, and emphasized that taking the lesson of photography is a knowledge that everyone should acquire. “Photography is to teach what should be shot and how to convey the subject to the viewer. While doing this, it is very important to know the basic design principles, aesthetic values, color, light and shadow settings and to act in accordance with these principles when framing the images. Asst. Prof. Dr. Atamaz stated that the students made very good progress within the scope of the course, and they understood better framing, what and how they should discuss. Mentioning that photography is a means of communication, Asst. Prof. Dr. Elif Atamaz emphasized that especially the students of the Faculty of Communication should learn this very well. Expressing that she thinks the exhibitions are an important motivation for students, Asst. Prof. Dr. Atamaz stated that she wanted to continue these exhibitions and said, “The more exhibited and shared, the more beautiful and meaningful works are.”
