EUL Faculty of Architecture organised the traditional design week
The traditional design week of the European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Architecture was held with the successful works of students from 3 different groups.
Short Stories of the Walled City
The students in Group 1 were expected to live, observe, and feel the historical settlement of Nicosia Walled City, where many different cultures come together, for a day, and to turn their experiences into a story with a theme they determined/named. The students were asked to determine their routes by moving from the points determined by the lecturers and to narrate the places they observed on that route and present them as short films/videos.
Transformation of historical places / Living experiences and reuse of historical places
As part of the Group 2 study, it was aimed to reflect the transformation of lives and spaces in the historical process with current technological tools. Existing residential buildings with new functions in the Nicosia Walled City area were determined as the spaces to be analysed. By using contemporary technological opportunities, students were able to experience and transfer historical places with their new functions, and presentations of the Reels videos created by the students were made.
Let’s Design Together: Architecture and Interior Architecture Student Project Competition
In the activity of the students in Group 3, a student project competition was organised with the participation of the senior students of Architecture and Interior Architecture. The competition aimed to encourage the participation of students in competition projects and the students were asked to design the area where Nicosia Walled City, Courts Square, and sandwich kiosks are located by contemporary living conditions.
For 4 days, the students, who worked outside the campus within the scope of field visits, conveyed their experiences in different workshops to their academicians and fellow students with the presentations they prepared.
