European University of Lefke (EUL), Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Derviş Kırıkkaleli’s two studies were included in the most cited studies list of Wiley, one of the most famous publishing houses in the world.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Derviş Kırıkkaleli’s study titled “Nuclear energy consumption and economic growth in England;, “Analysis with Wavelet Method” published in the Journal of Public Affairs of Wiley publishing house, was chosen by Wiley publishing house as the most popular and cited work in 2020 and 2021.
Stating that the other authors of the study are Dr. Festus Fatai Adedoyin and Dr. Festus Victor, Kırıkkaleli stated that the causal relationship between nuclear energy consumption and economic growth in the United Kingdom was investigated in the study, and continued his explanations about the study as follows: It has been underlined that there is a positive relationship between economic growth and nuclear energy consumption in the short run.
In addition to this study, the other study, which is among the most cited studies by Wiley, was published in the journal Sustainable Development titled “The impact of the use of natural resources and economic growth on the environment: Can China change some of its obligations for sustainable development through globalization?” Stating that the co-authors of the study are Dr. Muhammad Umar and Dr. Xiangfeng Ji, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz and Dr. Xuemei Zhou and the study investigated the relationship between CO2 emissions in China and its possible determinants, namely economic growth, globalization, financial development and natural resources. Kırıkkaleli continued as follows; This study shows that economic growth and natural resources have a positive effect on CO2 emissions in China, but globalization contributes to improving its environmental quality.
