EUL Academician Karakaya deemed worthy of “IUTOX Lifetime Achievement Award”
Academician of European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Ali Esat Karakaya deemed worthy of “IUTOX Lifetime Achievement Award” by International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX). Karakaya accepted his award at the ceremony which was conducted at Belgrade.
Prof. Dr. Ali Esat Karakaya was proposed for candidacy by the toxicology unions of Turkey, Australia, Asia and Greece
Academician of EUL Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Ali Esat Karakaya was proposed for candidacy by the toxicology unions of Turkey, Australia, Asia and Greece to the award which was given for the first time by International Union of (IUTOX). Karakaya pointed out that International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX) which was established in 1980 at USA is the greatest scientific union of the field and added that it contains 63 national unions and 25.000 members. Furthermore, Karakaya pointed out the mission of the union as improving the knowledge base of the toxicological problems that human beings and environment face and developing human health through toxicology science and practices around the world.
Karakaya has organized many international toxicology congresses and presided them
Karakaya pointed out that he worked for 10 years in the administration of IUTOX including his presidency between the years of 2004-2007 and added that in his academic life he has organized more than 10 international scientific meetings including World and Europe Toxicology congresses and presided these meetings. Karakaya stated that with these meetings, scientific networks established between developed and developing countries and scientists have contributed significantly to the development of the topic in countries where toxicology has not developed adequately over time.
The jury deemed Karakaya worthy of the award due to his contributions to the development of toxicology science, especially in developing countries and from among 6 candidates has received “IUTOX Lifetime Achievement Award” by International Union of Toxicology. Karakaya is the first toxicologist who has received this award.
