EUL Academician Hablemitoğlu made some statements on the Occasion of “World Social Service Day”
The quality of life of the individual, the family and the community develops through established relationships
Chairperson of European University of Lefke Department of Social Services Prof. Dr. Şengül Hablemitoğlu made some statements on the occasion of World Social Service Day.
Hablemitoğlu said that “The third Tuesday of each March is celebrated as the World Social Service Day” and added that The International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), a partner of the United Nations and followed by all social workers, sets global agendas parallel to the United Nations agenda. Hablemitoğlu stated that global policy campaigns on this policy were organized and an ‘agenda” was realized within the framework of World Social Service Day. Pointing out that this year’s theme is determined as “Promoting the Importance of Human Relationships” and added that it is aimed to focus on the basic relationship that human beings establish with each other and with the environment and on the future of these relationships. Stating that in this concept Social Service is a profession based on the human relations, Hablemitoğlu said that the quality of life of the individual, the family and the community develops through established relationships. Hablemitoğlu stated that these relations are intertwined with natural and human environment, social environment, cultural, economic and technological environment and added that the focus of all these relations will fill the social service’s agenda this year to answer some of the questions. Hablemitoğlu further said that “How can we improve and enrich our interdependent relationships? How can we ensure that people live in a more peaceful and equal world by maintaining and developing all these relationships? We will search answers for these questions, support the development of plan policies and practices in 2019 and emphasize its importance at every opportunity”.

Habelemitoğlu said that “In this context, as the European University of Lefke Department of Social Service we have organized an interview program which will host the Head of Cyprus Business Women Association Şenay Ekingen” and added that “On Tuesday, March 19th at 14:00 we will meet at the EUL Cinema Hall, where we will talk about how Ekingen, as a head of non-governmental organization, as a woman, as an entrepreneur and as a person living in the TRNC, established and maintained her relations with her environment.”
