EUL academician Ataman was deemed worthy of the Honor Prize of Headteacher
Head of the European University of Lefke (EUL) Special Education Departmen, Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Ataman was deemed worthy of the Honor Prize of Headteacher 2017 by Anatolian Education Union.

Starting from the year it was founded, Anatolian Education Union presents the Honor Prize of Headteaching to an educator who follows the footsteps of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and sets a role model with their professional achievements, on November 24 every year. This year’s award will be presented to the Head of the EUL Special Education Department Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Ataman who has works and projects about special education that sets an example, with the proposal of the Trade Union Honor Committee, the Central Administration Board’s decision dated 1.11.2017 and numbered 600.
Ataman is known as a scientist who has contributed significantly to the Turkish Education System for 40 years.
Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Ataman has nine books (joint publication) in the fields of special education, educational sciences and psychology, and many articles, reports and research projects in special education field since the 1970s. Ataman is interested in all sub-branches of special education field and is a leading scientist in the education of children with special needs which has been neglected in Turkey for a long time. As a scientist who has successfully carried out many administrative and academic tasks in the field of special education, Ataman has carried out many scientific and social projects, trained thousands of special educators and hundreds of academics and contributed to the recognition of the special education field in Turkey and now Ataman is taking its place among the well-known Balkan Educators.

Ataman has been known as a scientist who has made important contributions to the Turkish Education System for nearly 40 years. Ataman has turn towards to public information panels, conferences and so on events in the recent years. Ataman who has offered education in the first program that educates Special Education Teachers, took part in the establishment of ÖÇEM (Education and Research Center for Children with Special Needs). In addition to educating teachers in this center, she also conducts research and applications on all children with special needs in the TRNC.
