EUL Academician Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erçim Uluğ was awarded the “First Prize” in the Architectural Competition
EUL Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erçim Uluğ’s building proposal won the first prize in the Administrative Building competition of the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies of Northern Cyprus organised by the Union of Chambers of Turkish Chambers of Cyprus Engineers and Architects.
Erçim Uluğ made the following statement about his project that won the first prize:
“The city of Nicosia is developing rapidly in terms of context and is hosting many qualified buildings. It is very important for the Turkish Cypriot architecture that companies, organisations, associations, and unions with a corporate structure in the TRNC, together with the texture, character, and development of the city of Nicosia, create their own identities. In this design vision, “Formation of the Architectural Identity” of the Northern Cyprus Insurance and Reinsurance Companies Association, together with its history and deep-rooted past, was one of the main objectives of the project. The competition jury deemed the project I designed within the framework of this understanding worthy of the first prize.”
