“Breast Cancer Awareness” conference was hosted by EUL
‘Hedef Service Club Association’ organised a conference at EUL within the scope of breast cancer awareness month
A conference hosted by the European University of Lefke (EUL) was held at the EUL Cinema Hall on Monday, 16 October 2023 at 14.30 within the scope of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The importance of early diagnosis was highlighted at the conference, which was attended by the local community, members of non-governmental organisations and students.
Pervin Gürler, President of the Target Service Club Association, Raziye Kocaismail, President of the Cancer Patients’ Aid Association, Naciye Nami, Chief Physician of the Department of Primary Health Care Services, EUL Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department Lecturer Dr. Fzt. Beraat Alptuğ participated as speakers.
At the conference, which started with the opening speech of Pervin Gürler, President of the Hedef Service Club Association, Gürler expressed that they attach great importance to such awareness activities as an association and thanked EUL Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen and everyone who attended.
Raziye Kocaismail, President of the Cancer Patients’ Aid Association, also talked about her life struggle against cancer, starting from the process before she was diagnosed with cancer, the treatment process and how the association was established and how it came to these days.
Dr. Naciye Nami, Chief Physician of the Department of Primary Health Care Services, emphasised that early diagnosis is very important in saving lives and explained in detail the symptoms and diagnosis of breast cancer, breast self-examination, when to do breast check and what to pay attention to.
EUL Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Faculty Member Dr Fzt. Beraat Alptuğ also shared information about treatment approaches and treatment approaches after the diagnosis of breast cancer at the conference. Alptuğ informed the participants in detail about the importance of physiotherapy and rehabilitation for breast cancer patients, especially paying attention to lymphedema and the importance of exercise.
After the conference, Prof. Dr. Serpil Ünyayar, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, presented a certificate of appreciation to the valuable participants.
