Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faruk Provided Information Regarding Dentistry Week
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Simge Taşar Faruk, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the European University of Lefke (EUL), made statements about “Dentistry Week” and emphasized the importance of oral health.
“One of the essential foundations of a healthy life is having healthy teeth,” said Faruk, continuing: “It is known that factors that harm oral and dental health also affect overall body health. Therefore, neglecting oral and dental health can lead to various illnesses. For this reason, attention should be given to oral and dental health starting from early childhood. The experiences and habits gained during early childhood play a crucial role in shaping both general and oral health in later years. To raise awareness among individuals across our country, highlight the importance of oral and dental health, and promote healthy habits, various events are organized during National Oral and Dental Health Week. In addition, publications emphasizing the importance of oral and dental health are issued, and oral health screenings are conducted for students in primary schools.Through these activities, the goal is to emphasize the importance of oral and dental health, build public awareness, encourage individuals to prioritize oral hygiene, foster correct and consistent brushing habits, promote the use of dental floss, and draw attention to preventive dentistry practices.”
“It is as important for individuals not to neglect their own oral care as it is to attend regular dental check-ups.”
Faruk concluded by saying, “It is as important for individuals not to neglect their own oral care as it is to attend regular dental check-ups. Early diagnosis is crucial for the prevention and treatment of dental diseases. Therefore, it is recommended to visit a dentist at least twice a year.”
