The digital game industry has become a highly competitive and truly global industry with the developments in mobile platforms and internet technologies within the last decade. The digital game does not only mean entertainment today, it is a major business reflecting personal expression and global perspectives. These developments consolidate the need for educational support for the creation of experts in the field. Being a game designer means creating innovative game mechanics and shaping game narratives.
The Digital Game Design Undergraduate Program is established under the Faculty of Communication Sciences. Courses are in cooperation and coordination with the other departments of visual communication design and new media and communication. This offers an interdisciplinary working environment uniting basic communication sciences formation and design domains.
Digital Game Design is the intersection of visual communication design and computer engineering fields. The major goal of the program is to offer all the game production stages in theory and practice comprising concept development, idea generation, and production methodologies.
Graduates of the program can work in creative departments of the sector like game design, game programming, experience design, gamification, game production, and playwriting positions. They can take administrative roles in all related sectors and companies. They can also find job positions in industries such as education, media, software development, advertising, marketing, and entertainment, where game-like content can be produced and offered to customers. In addition, graduates can start their own production companies and serve the animation and game design markets worldwide.
