A seminar on “New Approaches in Pharmaceutical Sciences” was organised at EUL
European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Pharmacy organised a seminar on “New Approaches in Pharmaceutical Sciences”.
The seminar was held with the participation of Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Şermin Tetik, EUL Faculty of Pharmacy Assistant Dean Asst. Prof. Dr. Mevhibe Tamirci, Near East University Faculty Member Asst. Prof. Dr. Omid Mirzaei, faculty members and students.
The seminar started with the first speaker Tamirci’s presentation on “Basics of Over-the-Counter (OTC) Drugs in Pharmacy”. Tamirci provided information about the clinical uses and possible side effects of OTC drugs that are most commonly sold in pharmacies. Tamirci stressed the need to use these drugs carefully and in the usual doses in order to avoid any adverse effects of OTC drugs.
The second speaker, Near East University faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. Omid Mirzaei, made a presentation on “Potential and Effects of Artificial Intelligence in the Health Sector”. Mirzaei stated that artificial intelligence has developed rapidly in the field of medicine and pharmacy in recent years and has many different application areas. In his presentation, Mirzaei touched upon how artificial intelligence technology can be used in the diagnosis and treatment processes of patients and how it can transform pharmacy. In addition to these innovations brought by artificial intelligence to the healthcare sector, Dr Mirzaei also drew attention to ethical and security issues, noting that the use of artificial intelligence brings with it various challenges, including issues such as data confidentiality and privacy of patients.
After the speeches were completed, the seminar ended with the questions of the students and faculty members, especially in the field of artificial intelligence.
