Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Education at the European University of Lefke (LAU) organized a seminar on “Children’s Yoga” through the Department of Preschool Education. Prof. Dr. Pınar Tülay began the seminar by explaining that children’s yoga adapts classic yoga poses to suit children, combining fun, discipline, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility into a comprehensive set of movements.
Continuing her speech, Tülay stated, “Children’s yoga helps children maintain proper breathing, flexibility, and a vibrant state of energy. It encourages them to use their imagination and channel their energy in the right direction. Children’s yoga aids in maintaining the flexibility of their body structure and can serve as an alternative medical approach in the treatment of spinal disorders such as scoliosis. Additionally, it strengthens muscles and improves concentration and creativity.
Children’s yoga incorporates playful yoga poses inspired by nature, along with breathing exercises, games, and stories. The inclusion of games and stories also contributes to enhancing children’s self-esteem. As in adult yoga, the goal of all these practices is to balance the harmony of the body, mind, and spirit, helping children maintain this balance throughout their lives. Research supports that yoga can promote physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being in children.”
At the end of the event, the Dean of the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Nergüz Bulut Serin, presented a certificate of appreciation to Prof. Dr. Pınar Tülay.
