A panel on “The Facts of Mobbing” was held at EUL
The panel on ‘Mobbing Facts’ organized by the European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Psychology was held online via Microsoft Teams.
In the panel, Head of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zihniye Okray made the opening speech and explained the importance of understanding and preventing mobbing, which is a part of psychological mobbing. Then, Faculty Members joined the meeting with their works, Asst. Prof. Dr. Cemaliye Director, ‘Mobbing from House to Company’, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sultan Şehitoğlu, ‘The Relationship Between Mobbing and Dark Triple Personality Traits’, Asst. Prof. Dr. Umut Şah, ‘Mobbing Against Women in the Context of Intergroup Inequality’, Asst. Prof. Dr. Doğa Eroğlu Şah explained ‘Mobbing Against LGBTI+’ and Lecturers Beliz Köroğlu, ‘The Relationship of Psychological Violence at Workplace with Alexithymia’, and Dilem Öke explained ‘Cyber-Mobbing’ through ‘The Facts Behind Mobbing’.
Head of Psychology Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zihniye Okray said, “The concept of mobbing is a current and important issue in behavioral sciences. When mobbing occurs in organizations, it can harm the ethical climate of the organization. As a psychological intimidation behavior, mobbing creates an uneasy working environment by causing individuals to disturb each other in the workplace. While mobbing harms the ethical principles of the corporate climate, it can cause mental and physical burnout for employees.” “We can say that we had a productive and beneficial activity for our students in terms of the feedback received from the students in the online panel and their transfers on the subject,” said Okray, adding that they will continue to carry out different activities throughout the term as a department.
