A conference on “Toxicogenetics and Therapeutic Approaches” was held for Pharmacy students at EUL
European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Pharmacy organised a conference on “Toxicogenetics and Therapeutic Approaches”.
The conference on “Toxicogenetics and Therapeutic Approaches” was given by Dr Fezile Özdemir to the 4th and 5th year students of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Dr. Özdemir emphasised that drugs prescribed at low doses cause unwanted side effects in individuals, especially when there is no response to treatment despite high doses of medication, and shared the details of Pharmacogenetic, which investigates the causes of differences in response to treatment in individuals with the same diagnosis and the same treatment, with the students. In this context, she provided examples of how a difference of 0.01% will produce a response / result in humans with a similarity rate of 99.9%.
Dr. Özdemir, who emphasised the significance of providing individual-specific treatment today with the data obtained as a result of clarifying the genetic differences in individuals and comparing them with plasma drug levels, concluded the conference with answers to intensive questions from the students.
