World Kidney Day Awareness Seminar Held at EUL

The Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Health Management at the European University of Lefke (EUL), organized a seminar titled “World Kidney Day 2025: The Importance of Early Diagnosis and Effective Treatment.”
The seminar, aimed at raising awareness about kidney health and diseases, featured guest speakers Tugay Kavuzkoz, Dr. Salahi Ataç, Ahmet Varoğlu, and Dr. Ahmet Behlül.
Dr. Salahi Ataç opened the seminar with a discussion on Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), providing insights into its diagnosis, treatment, and progression. He highlighted current treatment methods, potential side effects during treatment, and the importance of increasing public awareness about the disease.
The seminar continued with a talk by Tugay Kavuzkoz, a patient who had undergone dialysis treatment and received a kidney transplant following a CKD diagnosis. Sharing his personal experiences with the participants, Kavuzkoz discussed the challenges he faced during dialysis and how receiving a kidney transplant transformed his life. He also emphasized the importance of organ donation.
Ahmet Varoğlu from the Coordination Board Secretariat provided information on the TRNC Organ Donation Registration System, drawing attention to the significance of organ donation.
The seminar concluded with a presentation by Dr. Ahmet Behlül, who emphasized that kidney transplantation significantly improves the quality of life for CKD patients. He highlighted the need to support initiatives that raise awareness of organ donation in society. Finally, Dr. Behlül answered questions from students and other attendees.
