Drone Photography and Artificial Intelligence Discussed at EUL

The Faculty of Communication Sciences at the European University of Lefke (EUL), in collaboration with the Photography Club, organized a conference titled “Drone Photography and Artificial Intelligence,” bringing together technology and visual arts enthusiasts. The event featured two well-known professionals in drone photography in Northern Cyprus, Burak Karaboğa and Ali Yılmaz. In addition to being recognized for their striking digital content on social media platforms, both artists are actively involved in drone photography. Throughout the event, they discussed the innovations brought by drone technology to photography, creative processes, and technical details.
The Rising Importance of Drone Photography
During the discussion, it was emphasized that drones are not just technological devices classified as unmanned aerial vehicles but have become an indispensable tool for today’s digital content creators. The speakers highlighted that while drone usage is appealing, it also requires careful attention. They outlined key points, especially for beginners.
Technical Details: Assessing weather conditions, managing battery capacity, and understanding device components.
Legal Regulations: Flight permits, restrictions, and regulatory updates.
Mobile Applications: Software that facilitates shooting processes and enhances final results.
Pushing the Boundaries of Creativity with Artificial Intelligence
Burak Karaboğa and Ali Yılmaz shared striking photographs and videos from their portfolios with the participants. They highlighted the unique perspectives offered by drone cameras and showcased the extraordinary results achieved through artificial intelligence-assisted applications. They provided examples to illustrate how AI tools can be creatively integrated into the post-production process of photographs and videos.
One of the key takeaways from the conference was that photography is not only about technical expertise but also about staying up to date with innovative technologies. Burak Karaboğa summarized the impact of technology on art by stating, “If you want to push the boundaries of creativity, you must see technology as an ally.”
During the Q&A session, students had the opportunity to gain detailed insights into drone technology and equipment features. The conference concluded with a live drone flight demonstration on campus, where the guests were provided a hands-on experience of practical applications. Students observed the operating principles of the device and participated in a group shoot, leaving the event with memorable moments.
The conference served as an inspiring event for students interested in drone photography and artificial intelligence, providing valuable guidance for those considering a career in this field.
