A meaningful project from an EUL student
The project ‘Sen Çal Kapımı’ made people over the age of 65 happy
European University of Lefke (EUL) Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Education and Lefke Relief and Community Association carried out the ‘Sen Çal Kapımı’ project.
Sibel Onaylı, a final year student of the Department of Special Education Teaching, implemented the ‘Sen Çal Kapımı’ project under the supervision of Lecturer Naziyet Mercan Bozok within the scope of the ‘Community Service Course’. As part of the project, a total of 20 houses of people over the age of 65 living in the villages of Lefke District were visited, and flowers and gifts were distributed.
EUL student Sibel Onaylı, visited people over the age of 65 in Lefke, Yedidalga and Bademliköy to remind them that they are not alone, with the help of Dr Emel Yılmaz, President of Lefke Aid and People’s Association.
In the 5-week project, firstly, the people in need, consisting of men and women over 65 living in Lefke District, were identified. Afterward, with the donations made through the association, the clothing needs of 20 homeowners were met, the flowers bought by EUL students for the project were distributed, and social sensitivity was created by chatting with the elderly.
