Danish Road Safety Council Researcher Jesper Solund was the guest of EUL
European University of Lefke (EUL) Department of Civil Engineering organized an event on “Road Traffic Safety Policies” with the participation of Danish Road Safety Council Researcher Jesper Solund as an invited speaker.
The expert researcher expressed that nowadays drivers are distracted for various reasons, which leads to accidents, and that it is a necessity to make effective policies in terms of safety.
In the presentation, Solund stated that in Denmark, a country of 6 million people, starting from the 70s, the government has produced policies that will significantly reduce accidents in the light of scientific data by conducting due diligence and analysis. Jesper Solund underlined that information campaigns prepared and implemented with scientific methods, the perception of drivers that they are being monitored at all times, and the transfer of safe pedestrian and cyclist movements at a young age with appropriate programs have been effective over the years, especially under the title of changing road user behaviour, and underlined the importance of road traffic engineering with designs to support them.
