European University of Lefke (EUL) has added a new one to its academic achievements. The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics within the EUL Faculty of Health Sciences has successfully completed the accreditation process initiated with the Health Sciences Education Programmes Evaluation and Accreditation Board (SABAK).

EUL Department of Nutrition and Dietetics was accredited by SABAK, which was established with the aim of contributing to the improvement of the quality of health sciences education in Türkiye by conducting accreditation, evaluation, and information studies for health sciences education programmes in different disciplines and operating as an independent association.

Today, Quality and Reliable Education is Highly Important

Nutrition and Dietetics Turkish Department Head Asst. Prof. Dr. Kamil Dağcılar provided information about the accreditation process and mentioned the following; Accreditation in higher education is one of the most important indicators of academic quality. Accreditation of departments refers to the evaluation and external quality assurance process that measures whether academic and field-specific standards predetermined by an accreditation body in a particular field are met by a higher education programme. In this context, EUL Nutrition and Dietetics Department has shown that it has met the field-specific standards. The educational opportunities, laboratory environment, presence of technological devices specific to the programme and internship opportunities are very important for training professionals working in the field of health. The successful accreditation of the department shows that the department has appropriate facilities, infrastructure, laboratory environment, competent and well-equipped faculty members and thus provides a quality and reliable education.

The SABAK Evaluation Panel was Impressed by the Facilities Offered by the University

Dağcılar continued as follows; The visit by the SABAK Evaluation Committee took place with the participation of the dean, department faculty members and staff, and department students. The accreditation process took place with the evaluation of the evaluation report put forward as a result of the studies carried out in the department by the SABAK Board of Directors and the examination of the facilities provided by the university. After the visits and examinations, the SABAK evaluation committee stated that they were impressed by the infrastructure and facilities provided by the university, student satisfaction, and the harmony between faculty and staff, dean and administrative management. As a result of the evaluations made by the Health Sciences Education Programs Accreditation Board, it was reported that our department was entitled to receive an accreditation certificate between March 20, 2024, and September 30, 2026 (2 years).

Finally, Dağcılar stated, ‘We would like to thank all the university administration, especially our Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Yükselen, who supported us during the accreditation process, our Dean Prof. Dr. Serpil Ünyayar, Accreditation Committee Coordinator Prof. Dr. Ertuğ Aydın, our academic and administrative staff for their devoted work and our students who actively participated.’
