EUL Turkish Club participated in Lefkara Literature Feast
EUL students’ performances of poetry were appreciated
European University of Lefke Turkish Club participated in the Lefkara Literature Feast. EUL Turkish Club, which previously organised the TRNC Presidency poetry event and organised events at the university, this time held the ‘Motherland Poems’ programme at Güzelyurt AKM within the framework of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
The closing programme of the II. Lefkara Literature Feast, which was held under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Nicosia, Nicosia Yunus Emre Institute, Cyprus Foundations Administration and other stakeholders, was held on Friday evening, 17 May 2024 with the poetry event of EUL Turkish Club.
Nearly twenty of the poems of Turkish Cypriot poets dealing with the love of the Motherland and Turkishness were performed by the students of the EUL Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish Language Teaching and Department of Turkish Language and Literature, accompanied by music. EUL Turkish Club Advisor Prof. Dr. Oğuz Karakartal, Yunus Emre Institute Motherland Poems programme coordinator Şerif Avşar, club president Engin Can Kaya and club students’ speeches, presentations and poetry performances were appreciated by the participants of the programme.
TRNC Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre expressed his satisfaction while presenting certificates of appreciation to EUL Turkish Club students at the closing ceremony. Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Nicosia, Director of the Cyprus Foundations Administration Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer, academicians and students from Turkey were present at the programme.
