A Conference on “Teachers’ Schools in the 176th Year” was held at EUL
The European University of Lefke (EUL) organised a conference on “Teachers’ Schools in the 176th Year”. Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Başar attended the conference as a speaker. EUL faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özcan Palavan opened the conference. Afterwards, Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Başar provided information about the history of teacher schools and mentioned the benefits of village institutes. Towards the end of his speech, Prof. Dr. Başar explained how difficult it was to find a teacher after the National Struggle and how teachers were viewed by society at that time. He mentioned how today’s teachers should be, and especially that they should educate individuals who are patriotic, beneficial to their nation, and engaged in positive sciences.
Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Başar’s speech attracted great interest among the students. In his speech on teacher schools, Prof. Başar emphasised that every piece of information learned in schools is very valuable and that the education system should be constantly improved. Furthermore, he touched upon the importance of the teacher’s role in the student’s life and stated that students should not forget that they are the shining light. Başar also emphasised that teaching is a sacred profession and added, “It is teaching that makes professions a profession.”.
At the end of the conference, European University of Lefke Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Nergüz Bulut Serin presented a certificate of appreciation to Prof. Dr. Erdoğan Başar, and the conference titled “Teacher Schools in the Year 176” ended.
