“Exhibition of Educators Making a Difference” was held at EUL
Exhibited materials were donated to surrounding schools
An exhibition was held on “Educators Making a Difference” by European University of Lefke (EUL) Dr. Fazıl Küçük Education Faculty Classroom Teaching students, under the leader ship of Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özcan Palavan.
In the exhibition of “Educators Making a Difference” the materials which were developed by students were displayed. Many faculty members and students participated to the exhibition, which was opened by Dr. Fazıl Küçük Education Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Oğuz Serin.
Palavan drew attention to the importance of using materials in education
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Palavan drew attention to the importance of using materials in education and stated that the gains in the programs will become more permanent with the materials developed considering that primary school students are in the concrete operational stage. In addition, Palavan stated that the materials should be related to the subject and that there should be necessary gains in order to appeal to the sensory organs of the student, and that the information should be transferred by associating it with daily life has an important place in the realization of permanent learning. Finally, Palavan stated that with this exhibition, teacher candidates can make a difference in their teaching lives by gaining inspiration.
The 3rd-grade students of the department of Classroom Teaching who prepared the materials used in the exhibition, presented the materials in the Life Science and Mathematics Teaching lessons in accordance with the achievements in the programs using the micro-teaching method, which is one of the effective teaching methods.
The people who participated to the exhibition, learned to scrutinize how those materials were prepared, what they were useful for, what achievement they were associated with, and how they should be explained to the student exchanging ideas. After the exhibition, the materials which were exhibited in the exhibition were donated to the surrounding schools and material support was provided to the schools.
