Dietician Profession was discussed at EUL
The European University of Lefke (EUL) Health Sciences Faculty of Nutrition and Dietetics Department organized an online conference titled “A View of the Dietician Profession from the Eyes and Experiences of the Dietitian”. Specialist Dietitian Aslı İçingür attended the conference as a speaker.
It is important for people who are educated in such an important department that affects human health to develop themselves in the relevant fields.
In the changing and developing world, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics is increasing its importance and validity day by day, İçgür, and stated that it is very important for people who are educated in such an important department that affects society and human health, to develop themselves in related fields. Mentioning the characteristics of a good dietitian at the same time, İçingür “A dietitian should be a good leader. Because in the institutions where he will work, he is generally responsible for the kitchen.” Emphasizing that working in harmony with the chef in the kitchen hierarchy and being able to manage that team are the golden rules of being successful, İçingür emphasized that persuasion skills should be high.
It is very important for a dietitian to have good culinary and recipe knowledge.
Stating that the dietetics department is a department that deals with the science of nutrition in depth and that the kitchen is actually an inseparable part of this science, İçgür said, “It is very important for a dietitian to have good knowledge of cuisine and recipes. It was an experience. In this way, I can prepare my diets in a more conscious and internalized way.”
Finally, İçingür, who gave advice to the students, said, “Do your job with love. Because our job is with people, in order to understand people, we must first understand ourselves, and in order to understand ourselves, we must learn the basics of creation and human nature. Actually, we should be able to understand some anthropology, some philosophy, some psychology and physiology. I have no doubt that each of you will be very valuable dietitians who will make a difference in their own field. Believe in yourself and your profession and always fight to bring your community or institution to better conditions.
