TRNC Ministry of Health Revised COVID-19 Restrictions/Measures 30.04.2021
The following revised Covid-19 measures have been announced by the Health Ministry in accordance with recommendations made by the Higher Committee for Infectious Diseases. The decisions will be valid as of Monday, May 3, 2021.
- The night-time curfew will continue to remain in place from Monday 03.05.2021 to Saturday 08.05.2021 between 9 pm and 5 am.
- A full-day curfew, except to meet essential needs will be in place on Sunday 09.05.2021. Only pharmacies, petrol stations, bakeries (production only) as well as restaurants, patisseries, cafes, taverns offering delivery services will be allowed to operate on the day.
- All retail stores and sectors which are open will be allowed to operate between 8:30 am and 8 pm.
- Restaurants, cafes and eateries will be allowed to open between 10 am and 8:30 pm.
- The holding of protests, rallies and ceremonies indoors or outdoors is not recommended due to a rise in case numbers.
- Individuals who have visited the Netherlands, Brazil, India, Ukraine, Serbia or any African country in the last 14 days will be allowed to enter the country on the condition they remain in mandatory quarantine at a state-monitored facility for 14 days. (The UK and Denmark have been removed from this list. Ukraine and Serbia have been included. Individuals arriving from the UK and Denmark will be required to enter quarantine for ten days only).
- TRNC students studying abroad will be eligible for home quarantine monitored by electronic wristbands.
- The number of charter flights for three-day closed-circuit hotel tourism (monitored via electronic bracelet) has been increased to six per week.
- Funfairs, festivals or similar events during the Ramadan Bayram (Bairam) holiday will not be allowed.
- Online or remote education (except for 12 graders) will continue.
- Birthdays, engagement parties, picnics and similar events, outdoors or indoors, are forbidden. However, weddings, engagement parties or similar events will be allowed as of 27.05.2021. Socializing at homes is limited to a maximum of ten persons and those breaching this rule will be subject to legal prosecution.
- Barbershops, hairdressers, beauty salons and tattoo parlours will be open between 7 am and 8 pm.
- Mass worship at mosques or mass iftar (fast-breaking dinners) is not allowed until further notice due to an increase in case numbers.
- Coffeeshops, social meeting clubs and cafeterias will only be allowed to serve customers without exceeding 1/3 of their indoor and outdoor seating capacity. Playing card games, backgammon or other table games as well as smoking shisha is strictly forbidden.
- Betting offices will be allowed to continue their operations under conditions stated by the health ministry. Such establishments will only be allowed to operate at 1/3 seating capacity. No food or drinks may be served on the premises.
- All individual, non-contact and outdoor sporting activities, including training and matches (without spectators), may be carried out.
- Only professional or licensed swimmers or persons receiving rehabilitation treatment may be allowed to train/use indoor swimming pools.
- Gyms may continue to operate under conditions stated by the health ministry. Employees working in such establishments are required to repeat PCR tests every seven days. Such establishments will be allowed to open at 6 am. Dance, music or similar schools will not be allowed to operate.
- Students sitting exams and invigilators are required to present a negative PCR test carried out in the last 72 hours.
- Professional artists, actors or stage performers are allowed to carry out rehearsals under conditions stated by the health ministry. Audiences must be limited to 1/3 of theatre or concert hall capacity.
- One-on-one music or bale lessons are allowed.
