World Arabic Language Day celebrated at EUL
European University of Lefke (EUL) Centre of Social and Cultural Activities and International Students club organized an event on the occasion of World Arabic Language Day. The event attracted intense participation and interest. Students from EUL, who came from countries where Arabic language was spoken, took part in the organization and made history, information, music and dance presentations on Arabic Language during the event.
Tunisian student from the Master’s Program of International Relations Department Mariem Ben Ali who took part in the event reflected her thoughts about the event as follows;
“World Arabic Language Day has been celebrated every year since 2012 on December 18. This celebration is based on the day in the history of the United Nations General Assembly that he accepted the Arabic Language as the “sixth official language” in 1973. We are proud of our language. Many of my friends, who have come to study from all over the world, use Arabic as their mother tongue. We had the opportunity to introduce our language to all of our student friends today. Our organization was informative, educational and fun. In addition to providing information about the history, beauty and different diction of the Arabic Language, our friends also performed various songs and dance performances”.
Students attending the event also learned to write their own names in Arabic by participating in the Arabic Language Workshop at the end of the event.
