Drama is a branch of art that should be referred to all levels of education and training
European University of Lefke (EUL) Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Education Department of Basic Education organized a seminar titled “A Journey with Drama in Cyprus”. The event, organized by the Drama Leader İpek Denizli Karagöz from the Interactive Drama Association, attracted great interest. A historical journey was made and the drama was held at the event.
Drama studies lead the child to behave independently, to be tolerant and to gain a creative personality.
Pointing out that drama is an event which activates the people and facilitates learning, Karaköz said that drama encircles people and enhances them. “In education and training, teachers benefit from drama on many subjects. Role-playing is one of the important tools of creative drama. Drama studies lead the child to behave independently, to be tolerant, to be democratic and to gain a creative personality. Learning through drama is accelerated and activated” she said. Karagöz also said these studies enable students to make sense of words, attitudes and behaviours, movements and life situations.
During the interactive event, Karagöz took a time trip with the students and performed a drama event on the island of Cyprus. At the end of the activity, the students drew their feedbacks with paints and shapes.
