European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Arts & Humanities Department of Psychology organized the 6th EUL Psychology Days with (In)Equality theme. The opening speech of the event, which lasted for two days, was made by Meral Akıncı, the wife of President Mustafa Akıncı.

Akıncı: Women’s inequality is a common problem of the world

Akıncı stated that she was happy to see young colleagues and she made a speech about inequality. Akıncı pointed out that inequality is experienced in many areas throughout the history of humanity, while she drew attention to inequality towards women and individuals with special needs and inequalities in digital space. Emphasizing that women’s inequality is a common problem of the world, Akıncı said that “The main reason for this is the role that the social structure assigns to the female gender and this leads to the inability of women to obtain and use rights”.

“Inequality and Woman” and “Inequality in Different Fields” handled in two different sessions

In the first session of the 6th EUL Psychology Days, “Inequality and Woman” was handled with the presentations the of Head of EUL’s Psychology Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zihniye Okray, Academician of EUL’s Psychology Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Cemaliye Direktör and Instructor Dilem Öke.

In the second session, “Inequality in Different Fields” was handled by the Head of Cyprus International University Special Education Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Cahit Nuri, Member of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital Internal Medicine Service Expert Dr. Nafiye Direktör, University of Kyrenia’s Head of Distance Learning Assit. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Arnavut and Academician of EUL’s Psychology Department Assist. Prof. Dr. Sultan Şehitoğlu.

The Presentations of the Students attracted attention

On the other hand, presentations of the students themed “Silence”, “Gender” and “A Different Point of View to the Human” and academic poster presentations which lasted whole day attracted great attention.
