“World Pharmacist Day” celebrated at EUL with Different Activities
“World Pharmacist Day” celebrated by the European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Pharmacy with different activities.
World Pharmacist Day is intended to discuss, examine, publicize and offer solutions to the professional problems of pharmacists.
In her speech made at the World Pharmacist Day Activities, Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. S. Rümeysa Demirdamar pointed out that World Pharmacist Day is celebrated in May every year by professional organizations and faculties. Demirdamar also said that “The ground of World Pharmacist Day can be stated as the date of May 14, 1839, when the first pharmacist class was opened in Mekteb-i Tıbbiye-i Şahane with the suggestion to meet once a year with the aim of discussing, examining, publicizing and offering solutions to the professional problems of pharmacists”. She also said that Law No. 6197 on Pharmacists and Pharmacies entered into force in 1953 and the pharmacy profession is still valid by this law.

On the behalf of the students of Pharmacy Department, 3rd grade student Yacoub Moussa Mahamat who is the president of Pharmacy Club and 1st grade student Shehabeldin Mohamed Mohamed Ahmed made speeches. White apron wearing ceremony was held at the event and students sang an anthem special to pharmacists. Students then drew attention to issues such as hygiene and smoking with the activities. The event ended with poster presentations and evaluation.
