Ünal: Don’t consider anything you did or learned as unnecessary.
Ünal explained to the students how the internship period should be evaluated in order to adapt to the sector and how they could improve themselves. Ünal said that doing practices without having graduated from the school in every possible area in the field of communication will prepare them to the sector, and added that “Don’t consider anything you did or learned as unnecessary. Think of yourself as a sponge, learn every information, and absorb everything, including technological stuff. Anything you get at these ages will certainly work for you in the future. Because we are talking about a very challenging and competitive sector. In this sector, you must be constantly ahead to survive and you should never stop the process of developing yourself”.
Kılınç gave advices to the students
Dr. İlknur Kılınç made a presentation themed “Understanding of Public Relations and Social Responsibility in Civil Society Organizations” and gave examples of public relations activities in and out of civil society organizations, communication strategy process in non-governmental organizations and determining communication tools suitable for target groups. Kılınç also touched upon the importance of the cooperation with civil society organizations and the issues to be taken into consideration in the cooperation. She also shared with the students the issues of social responsibility practices of environmental NGOs and how they measure the perceptions, attitudes and expectations related to the corporate reputation.
Kılınç: Social responsibility projects and voluntary activities take you forward from your competitors
Kılınç finally emphasized that in the recruitment processes, institutions pay attention to social responsibility projects and voluntary activities students have done during their educational process rather than a good grade point average in their CVs. She also emphasized that students should take part in projects that add value to them, emphasizing that the individuals who are beneficial to society and sensitive to their environment will be qualified and efficient in their work life with the perception and questioning quality.
