EUL Students’ Opportunity of Experiencing Wire Art
European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Architecture Department of Graphic Design established an exhibition themed “Sprit of the Wire: Aphorisms in Art Workshop Exhibition”. The projects designed by the students from the Departments of Architecture, Interior Architecture, Visual Communication Design and Graphic Design under the framework of Basic Design I lecture were exhibited in the event.
Dean of Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Lerzan Aras made the opening speech of the exhibition and expressed that she found the projects very successful and that she had a trust on the leader of the projects and students from the minute that she heard about the project. Aras congratulated the students and teachers for their achievements in this process.
Ermiyagil: Students had the chance to convert their theoretical knowledge into concrete designs
Asst. Prof. Dr. Selen Abbasoğlu Ermiyagil the Chairperson of the Graphic Design Department said that the students of the Departments of Architecture, Interior Architecture, Visual Communication Design and Graphic Design conducted a workshop in an interdisciplinary working environment for interpreting basic design principles in different disciplines under the framework of Basic Design I lecture. Ermiyagil pointed out that, with the event the student had the chance experience wire art and described wire art as an art form that has been used for many years which makes use of different types of metal wires such as iron, aluminum and copper. Ermiyagil said that “In the works exhibited, our students developed the skills of working with wires using basic design principles such as pliers and wire cutters” and added that students had the chance to convert their theoretical knowledge into concrete designs in line with their own disciplined for 3 days.

Ermiyagil stated that instructors’ and students’ success of working as a team was reflected on the exhibited products and added that “As a result, the aims of this workshop which were; to teach learning while having fun to the students from different disciplines, to learn the design principles they have learned through different materials and tools in the design process, and to get used to group work and team spirit, are accomplished. I would like to congratulate and thank my instructors and all my students for their success.”
