EUL Academician Özada represented EUL in Bulgaria
European University of Lefke (EUL) Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Social Services Academician Dr. Ayşe Özada presented her study titled “Family Oriented Palliative Care: Social Services Perspective” in the 3rd Health Sciences and Hospital Administration Congress which was organized with the corporation of USSAM and American University of Bulgaria.
Özada: In the process of palliative care, social service specialists work directly with the patient and the family of the patient.
Pointing out that palliative care is not a new field of social services it does not receive the attention it deserves in Cyprus and Turkey, Özada emphasized that in the process of palliative care, social service specialists work directly with the patient and the family of the patient. Özada stated that, in this process, social service specialists have active roles such as; training the patient, the family of the patient, relatives of the patient, workers of other disciplines, doing the advocacy of the patient, conducting psycho-social researches and developing social policies.
Özada: Social work professionals are active in important activities
Özada finally emphasized the importance of working family oriented in the palliative care and added that social workers are active in important activities such as; expressing emotions, loss, mourning, adaptation of remaining family members to life after death, and benefiting from social services when necessary.
