“Occupational Health and Safety Education Seminar” held at EUL
European University of Lefke (EUL) School of Health organized “Occupational Health and Safety Education Seminar”. The seminar was offered to the 4th grade students of Nursing Department and Health Management Department with the aim of developing safe working skills by increasing the awareness level of graduate candidates who will serve in high risk working environments about professional risk factors and occupational accidents.
Occupational Health and Safety Education was conducted with five different sessions
Under the framework of occupational health and safety education which was conducted in five different sessions by acknowledged experts of Health School, Prof. Dr. Deniz Şelimen, Assist. Prof. Dr. Özhan Öztuğ and Fatma Ekenoğlu, students were informed about labor legislation, legal rights and responsibilities of employees, causes of occupational accidents and occupational diseases and prevention principles; biological, chemical, physical, psychosocial and ergonomic risk factors and prevention methods; hygiene and order in hospitals, risks that hospital infections poses for employees. Furthermore, under the frame work of Occupational Health and Safety Education applied trainings about fires, fire evacuation and rescue which are important subjects of occupational health and safety education were offered to the students by TRNC Police Headquarters’ trainer fire fighters.
The students who attended the the program which was conducted with the aim of providing occupational health and safety, duty, authority, responsibility, rights and obligations of employees and employers need to know in order to improve the occupational health and safety conditions in accordance with Occupational Health and Code, received certificates at the end of the event.
